General nursing duties: assessments q4h, medication administration, reassessment of interventions, ADL (do have tech support), blood administration, apply back and neck brace, Gtube feeding, IV insertion and maintenance, central line use and maintenance, pain management, dressing changes, oral care, turning, restraints, etc
Types of patients: All Neuroscience. Neck and back spinal surgery, stroke, brain tumor, seizure, head injury, MS, Myasthenia Gravis, Peripheral neuropathy, encephalopathy, Spinal fractures, etc
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.
EPIC, Vocera, Pyxis, No lift equipment in all but 5 rooms
Required Skills And Minimum Years Of Experience.
Minimum required to travel
Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required.
RN, BLS, NIHSS certification (required)
Shift or schedule requirements.
12 hour shifts, three days a week
Every other weekend (Saturday / Sunday on Day Shift and either Friday / Saturday or Saturday / Sunday on night shift to follow unit patterns)
Every other Holiday (Days holidays are: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. Nights holidays are: Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, Memorial Day Eve, the 3rd of July Nights, and Labor day Eve)
Floating to other units/departments.
Could float to another gen/med unit (Nephrology, Oncology, Ortho, Adult medical Surgical, Surgical, Rehab, Cardiac 5 G) These are all general medical units that any of our staff could float to.

4-5 on days 5-6 on nights

Scrubs- no certain colors, just matching and professional, tattoos and nose rings covered while on duty
