The Biochip R&D intern is responsible for assisting in various aspects of the project while gaining hands-on experience in diagnostic assay development. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a multi-functional group including Bioinformatics, Engineering, and other interdisciplinary groups to design, define, and test various aspects of the assay.
This position is part of the Biochip Assay Dev and will be located in Sunnyvale (on-site). At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Understand the project scope and become familiar with the GeneXpert Biochip systems.
- Gain practical experience in microbiological techniques to support research and development projects.
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through hands-on analytical work.
- Work alongside experienced scientists and professionals, gaining mentorship and guidance.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Currently pursuing an undergrad or master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related fields.
- Basic molecular biology techniques: nucleic acid extraction and qPCR.
- Microbiology research experiences in academic or industry setting (strongly preferred).
The hourly rate for this role is $30. This is the rate that we in good faith believe is the rate of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
