Accountant

CEPTON is seeking an Accountant to serve as a key member of our Finance team. The Accountant will take a pivot role in month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, consolidations and the documentation of accounting policies and procedures. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proficiency in accounting systems, strong motivation to contribute to the achievement of an efficient monthly/quarterly/annual close and financial reporting process, attention to detail, the ability to deliver results under deadlines, and is capable of working in a cross-functional, rapidly changing environment.

This position will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare transactions in the areas of AP (accounts payable), AR (accounts receivable), and Fixed Assets to ensure reported numbers are accurately prepared on time.
• Support the month end close process to ensure accuracy and integrity within the financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Coordinate with sales team to maintain the sales database and customer hierarchy in NetSuite.
• Liaise with outside vendors and service providers on AP, account reconciliations and the monthly close process.
• Prepare and analyze changes in balance sheet and income statement accounts and make recommendations to correct errors as appropriate.
• Support the consolidation of financial statements for other team members.
• Assist in the preparation of various supporting schedules for internal financial, external financial, tax, and external audits of annual financial statements, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor questions and requests.
• Assist in documenting internal processes/controls and identifying actionable insights and suggest recommendations to address issues and improve accounting efficiencies.
• Identify risks, maintain proper control, and make practical recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the financial close process.
• Propose and help implement proper accounting procedures in accordance with GAAP, for areas under functional area of responsibility.
• Develop strong partnerships across the organization to stay informed of transactions impacting the financial statements.
• Participate in various ad hoc projects and analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study
• 2 years of accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibilities
• Technical knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and demonstration of deep understanding of accounting fundamentals
• Must have experience with NetSuite and advanced Excel knowledge
• Experience in Inventory and Standard Costing preferred
• A hands-on approach and strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-growing environment; strong multi-tasking skills and the flexibility to quickly switch from one project to the next
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
