Description
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the operation of the plant level Quality Control Department on a day to day basis. Assures consistent quality of product by developing and enforcing good automated manufacturing practice systems; validating processes; providing documentation; managing staff. Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products including ensuring that all organizational Quality and Sanitation goals are met complimentary to BRC protocol. Monitors workflows and staff levels. Contributes information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; prepares and completes action plans; concerning quality, and customer-service standards. Identifies and resolves problems; completes audits; recommends system improvements and change implementations.
- Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
- Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability.
- Manages and resolves production quality and sanitation issues as they occur
- Oversees the work of Quality Control Technicians.
- Assists with and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
- Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
- Responsible for setting quality and performance standards for the Quality Control Technicians including individual goal setting, performance review and corrective actions.
- Ensures technicians’ compliance with audits, standards and practices as they relate to Quality and Sanitation, and training department on organizational policies.
- Assisting in the design of work standards, quality control charts and systems, and other elements of superior manufacturing practices to aid product improvements.
- Other responsibilities as needed.

Requirements
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience working in Quality Assurance in a Food Manufacturing Environment in a Leadership role. 2 years of staff supervisory experience.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field, or equivalent experience with strong food quality assurance and process knowledge.
Skills: Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to handle multiple tasks, capable of prioritizing and planning work activities, excellent verbal and written communication, demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness with the ability to improve and promote quality and safety. Must be proficient in MS Excel and Outlook, with working knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint.
