Title: General Laborer
Job Summary:
The position of a Ground Laborer is a consolidated job of the following positions: General laborer, flagger, tarping crew. You may perform duties from all positions.
Duties & Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the self-loading grapple truck operators by hand shoveling and/or raking
- Acting as a “spotter” between a heavy equipment operators and other vehicles and/or pedestrians
- Examining trucking loads delivered to verify quantity and type of material
- Writing tickets showing quantity and type of material, truck number, job location, and time
- Reporting on amount of materials transported
- Signaling drivers and/or operators in aligning and spacing loads
- Operating weight station scales
- Monitoring controlled fires
- Work on tarping crew to place tarps on tractor trailer beds
- Other duties may be assigned
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Daily attendance
- Follow all policies and procedures and meet all performance goals.
- Able to write routine reports and correspondence
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form
- Legible handwriting skills
- Able to work on Saturdays
- Able to work at various locations
- Valid Driver's license

- Previously related experience
- Construction site experience desirable
- Detail orientated
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
