OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
To direct and participate in the operation of a receiving kitchen; to prepare baked goods and other food items; to operate child nutrition computer systems; and to assist with other cafeteria operations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares baked goods and other food items according to recipes.
2. Prepare and serve, or prepare for transport, a variety of foods for daily menus or special events.
3. Operates and maintains equipment.
4. Wash dishes, pots and pans, utensils, kitchen
equipment/machines, and food service areas.
5. Assist with inventory, ordering, and stocking of food and
supplies.
6. Supervise student help.
7. Assists in maintenance of sanitation and safety.
8.Keep snack bar and vending machines adequately supplied with food and drink.
9.Assists in preparation of a la cart, snack bar and packaged food.
10.Substitute for the Manager as needed.
11.Operates and/or oversees the operation of child nutrition computers and individual student scan cards.
12.Prepare and maintain records regarding cafeteria operation.
13.Does related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Methods of preparing, cooking, baking and serving; production kitchen operation and equipment; sanitation and safety requirements.
Ability to:
Lift and/or move 50 pounds individually or with assistance using correct body mechanics; communicate effectively and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; prepare a variety of foods and baked goods; follow and modify a recipe; perform basic arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy; understand, implement, and give oral and written directions in English.
Experience:
One year experience in quality and quantity food preparation. Experience in quality and quantity baking and main dish preparation.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Coursework and training in food preparation.
Supervision:
Under general supervision receives direction and technical
assistance from the assigned site cafeteria manager. Reports to
Director of Food Services. May direct the work and provide
technical assistance to food service workers.

Salary : $19 - $24
