Commercial Box Truck Driver

Job Summary

Boston-based worker-owned cooperative seeks responsible professional truck driver, for growing organic waste collection business. Responsibilities

• Adhere to the work schedule
• Comply with all company policies and driving laws
• Ability to safely operate a box truck on specified routes to collect organic waste.
• Ability to use routing app and service each customer identified on the app or assigned by the operations manager.
• Perform routine vehicle inspection and preventative maintenance, such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
• Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, sometimes with no helpers.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of waste at designated facilities.
• Courteous interaction with our customers and performing other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Valid Drivers License.
• Minimum 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete pre-and post-trip inspections.
• Familiarity with GPS systems and service log apps.
• Understanding of all relevant truck driving laws and regulations
• Clean driving record
• Waste management experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  
  
  

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Extensive physical activity. This position requires strenuous physical work, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 100 pounds.
• The work environment involves exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts, which requires following basic safety precautions.
• The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
• A typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon.
