We are a rapidly growing company and are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to join our team.


Job Summary:

As the Controller for CertaPro Painters of Central Arkansas you will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations and health of our company. You will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong background in construction or trade-related industries and a deep understanding of accounting principles.


Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to help guide the management team in making informed decisions.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to project future performance and cash flow.


Budgeting & Planning:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational targets.
  • Monitor budget performance throughout the year and recommend corrective actions as needed.


Cost Accounting & Job Costing:

  • Oversee job costing processes, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs (labor, materials, overhead) for each painting contract.
  • Evaluate profit margins by project and provide insights into cost control opportunities and profitability improvements.


Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor company cash flow to ensure liquidity and manage working capital effectively.
  • Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and reduce financial risk.


Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
  • Reconcile discrepancies and manage credit risk.


Internal Controls & Compliance:

  • Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as industry-specific financial requirements.


Team Leadership & Development:

  • Manage a small team by providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Ensure ongoing development and training of the accounting team to improve efficiency and accuracy.


ERP & Financial Systems Management:

  • Oversee the use of accounting software and systems, ensuring that financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently.
  • Continuously assess and improve financial systems for better integration and operational efficiency.


Strategic Support:

  • Provide financial input for strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, or expansion.
  • Collaborate with senior management on long-term financial planning and business growth strategies.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably in the construction, trades, or service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and job costing.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Expertise in financial software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks online is a plus.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and growing business environment.
