Job Summary:
As the Controller for CertaPro Painters of Central Arkansas you will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations and health of our company. You will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong background in construction or trade-related industries and a deep understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to help guide the management team in making informed decisions.
- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to project future performance and cash flow.
Budgeting & Planning:
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational targets.
- Monitor budget performance throughout the year and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Cost Accounting & Job Costing:
- Oversee job costing processes, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs (labor, materials, overhead) for each painting contract.
- Evaluate profit margins by project and provide insights into cost control opportunities and profitability improvements.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor company cash flow to ensure liquidity and manage working capital effectively.
- Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and reduce financial risk.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
- Reconcile discrepancies and manage credit risk.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as industry-specific financial requirements.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage a small team by providing mentorship and guidance.
- Ensure ongoing development and training of the accounting team to improve efficiency and accuracy.
ERP & Financial Systems Management:
- Oversee the use of accounting software and systems, ensuring that financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently.
- Continuously assess and improve financial systems for better integration and operational efficiency.
Strategic Support:
- Provide financial input for strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, or expansion.
- Collaborate with senior management on long-term financial planning and business growth strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably in the construction, trades, or service industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and job costing.
- Proven experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Expertise in financial software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks online is a plus.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
