We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our infrastructure, both in the cloud and on premises. You will also be responsible for providing excellent customer support and guiding clients through the installation and management of Certara software products. Your expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, AWS, networking, and Python will be essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated deployment processes using Kubernetes and Docker to ensure efficient and consistent deployment of software applications.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve CI/CD pipelines and streamline the software release process.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, including resource utilization, capacity planning, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients during the installation, configuration, and management of Certara software products.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and address infrastructure-related issues and implement proactive solutions.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential for improving our infrastructure and processes.
- Collaborate with the customer support team to understand client requirements and provide timely and effective solutions.
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement, automation, and increased efficiency.
- Foster a customer-centric mindset and maintain excellent customer relationships by delivering exceptional service and support.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise managing complex AWS environments using services including EC2, IAM, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, Terraform.
- Strong Python development skills. Regular python programming experience a must (500 lines a month minimum). You should be comfortable with the Python standard library, writing RESTful microservices, interacting with APIs and parsing data.
- Strong Kubernetes and containerization experience. You are experienced in creating, administering, upgrading, and diagnosing bare-metal Kubernetes environments including programmatic interaction with the Kubernetes API. You have a strong understanding of Kubernetes internals and have created Kubernetes YAML manifests for deployment via helm.
- You have advanced knowledge of Docker including writing your own Dockerfiles.
- Strong knowledge of Linux internals. You are at home in the Linux shell of your choice and can write complex shell scripts. You are able to rapidly diagnose issues and identify whether the root cause is on the host, application layer or network using tools such as strace, tcpdump, sed, awk, etc.
- You are experienced with continuous integration tools such as CircleCI, Github Actions, etc.
- You are experienced with configuration management tools such as ansible.
