The Clinical Application Specialist (CAS) II supports the clinical application team with planning, maintaining and updating eClinical Works EHR and EHR-related packages. The CAS II provides technical support and training for the Electronic Health Record and ancillary applications. The CAS II assists with clinical application team projects and executes plan milestones. The CAS II also assists with intermediate level reporting for the clinical application team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Acquire and maintain complete knowledge of functional areas of supported electronic medical and ancillary applications.
- Participate in workflow process redesign efforts.
- Function as primary support for all EHR application functions and ancillary applications ensuring end user’s receive timely resolution and CDIH values-based support.
- Track and run reports within eClinicalWorks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to fulfill regulatory reporting requirements.
- Develop and run custom and adhoc reports using EBO to support operational activities and initiatives.
- Test and validate all upgrades to all EHR and ancillary applications.
- Accountable for clinician adaptation to the EHR and ancillary applications.
- Evaluate and analyze changes and new functionality for EHR and ancillary applications utilizing change management documentation.
- Develop and maintain a Master Training Plan for the implementation of EHR and ancillary applications processes.
- Ensure training is scheduled and completed for new users.
- Test and troubleshoot problems with EHR and ancillary applications. Determine if the errors are procedural or system application deficiencies.
- Test and troubleshoot new modules, upgrades, and patches in EHR and ancillary applications.
- Independently manage intermediate level clinical application projects, ensuring schedule adherence and execution of all project milestones.
- Participates in maintaining professional level process, change control, and log documentation for the department. Work with IT staff and Clinical Application Supervisor to analyze, plan, test, recommend and implement hardware and software directly related to electronic health systems.
- Design and customize clinical templates, provider order sets, note titles, and GUI screen views, as appropriate.
- Provide on-going system evaluation and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and utilization.
- Obtain and maintain eCW certification as directed by the Clinical Application Supervisor.
- Maintain knowledge of current technological developments / trends as related to duties.
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, OSHA and the Agency’s Policies & Procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
