What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Diesel Technician position at CERTIFIED FLEET SERVICES?

We are looking for candidates for our apprentice program. MUST HAVE PRIOR REPAIR EXPERIENCE IN EITHER MEDIUM/HEAVY DUTY OR AUTO REPAIR FIELDS.
The Apprentice Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks assigned by the company tech trainer, service manager, and their assigned shop mentor, at each location. This is a paid, hourly position and REQUIRES training in classroom, self lead, and hands on environments. The Apprentice Technician will have weekly classes with required assignments that will have to meet a set minimum standard to advance. The goal is to create an accurate, safe, self sufficient, flat rate tech with excellent diagnostic skills and decent repair capabilities. This is a learning position. Your basically paid to learn and train with industry standard training materials and certifications in a fleet based medium / heavy duty diesel production shop environment. Training will take roughly 12 months to complete. Once advanced through training, flat rate pay consideration will be discussed.
Key Tasks
- Completion of ALL REQUIRED weekly training material assigned by trainer to gain knowledge of the overall scope of diesel diagnostics and repair.
- Complete attendance for ALL REQUIRED training classes and participation in instructor led classes to gain knowledge of all medium and heavy duty truck systems and learn to use industry standard repair software, tools and special equipment
- Complete attendance and participation in mentor lead training in shop weekly to gain hands-on knowledge of repair from start to finish, in a safe, structured repair environment with a skilled tech.
- Complete the required amount of weekly shop hours as outlined by management to gain knowledge on flat rate pay structure and to become self-sufficient at the end of the training courses.
- Keep work area clean and follow all safety requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have prior repair experience in either medium/heavy duty or auto repair fields
- Satisfactory CFS Apprentice Assessment test score
- Good Attitude / cultural fit
- Mechanical Aptitude and ability to stay on task as assigned
- Decent computer skills
- Must possess your own required hand tools
