Maintenance Utility Person/Helper

I. Job Description Summary:

Assist the maintenance department as needed with repairing plant breakdowns.

Perform assigned preventive maintenance checks on plant equipment.

Assist other departments as needed in the event of absences of department personnel.

II. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform basic maintenance task as directed. Function at apprentice level on assigned project
  
  
  

and equipment repairs.

• Maintain appearance of all plant grounds and buildings as assigned.
• Provide building and grounds support. Install and maintain sprinklers, repair and maintain structures and roofs .
• Operate company forklifts and vehicles (with a valid California driver’s license and forklift
  
  
  

driver’s license). Ensure basic daily checks are performed and documented on daily basis

as assigned.

• Maintain boiler room on a daily basis. Assure all boiler chemicals are within normal limits and
  
  
  

adjust as necessary. Assure adequate supply of boiler chemicals is stocked at all times.

Initiate order requisition as needed. Assure the boilers and associated equipment is

functioning properly.

• Fill in for absent personnel in other departments as required.
• Assure all required department paperwork is completed and turned in on a timely basis.
  
  
  

Daily logs must be turned in at the end of each shift. Timesheets must be turned in every

other week. Time off authorization requests must be turned in 2 weeks prior to requested

vacation days.

• Submit complete and accurate material requisition forms for all items to be purchased.
• Maintain a positive cooperative attitude in all situations when dealing with
  
  
  

co-workers and outside contacts.

• Maintain adequate spare parts inventory, ensure that we have no lost production time due to a shortage of
  
  
  

parts or materials.

• Must be in good health, have the ability to lift 100 lbs., climb, stoop, crawl, kneel and work in confined
  
  
  

situations.

• Must be available for shift work when needed and emergency call outs.
• Must be able to work in production related positions as required.
  
  
  

Above tasks must be able to be performed with normal supervision oversight and training.

Ill. Work Environment:

Work environment will consist of indoor and outdoor environments . Work may require functioning in confined

space, hazardous environments, elevated and reduces temperatures and elevated locations. Work will

involve moderate to severe physical exertion. Must be able to lift and carry 65 pounds on normal basis and 80

pounds on intermittent basis.

IV. Education/Experience:

• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Should have 2 years minimum of maintenance related “on the job” applied work experience.
