What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Assistant (Part Time) position at CERTUS Senior Living?
This role is part-time.
The Resident Engagement / Activities Coordinator shall participate in facilitating the welfare and healthy adjustment of the residents to their new environment. He or she shall assist in the coordination and delivery of meaningful physical, interpersonal, cognitive, and nutritional activities, recognizing the individuality and well-being of each resident.
Experience in assisted living community or similar environment preferred; proficient computer use (MS Office Suite); effective verbal and written communication skills.
Licensing: Dementia Certification, will be obtained within 6 months of hire (we will help); Basic First Aid and CPR training required too (we will help). Active state driver’s license to operate all vehicles on site.
Duties:
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of all MAPS programs offered to the residents by the resident engagement Department set forth in the MAPS Resident Engagement Standards.
- Post announcements on a daily basis, keeping Residents up-to-date on planned resident engagement as well as changes in the current schedule of events; promote residents’ participation.
- Assist with monthly newsletter and calendar.
- Drive community bus/vehicle to outings and appointments as scheduled.
- Assist on-site and off-site interpersonal engagement (i.e. social engagement, church visits, clubs, and committees).
- Assist on-site and off-site cognitive engagement (i.e. museum tours, sitting in on a college course, etc.).
- Assist with the development and implementation of individual resident Wellness programs as set forth in the MAPS Resident Engagement Standards.
- Coordinate on-site and off-site nutritional engagement (i.e. going grocery shopping, hosting food tastings, attending food expos etc.).
- Acknowledge all Resident birthdays, anniversaries, Resident of the Month, and other accomplishments.
- Take photos of events and maintain scrapbook in a neat, orderly fashion.
- Assist the Welcoming Committee with introduction to the new resident, enhancing social interactions and making new friends as set forth in the MAPS Resident Engagement Standards.
- Assist with the acknowledgement all resident birthdays, anniversaries, Resident of the Month, and other accomplishments.
- Initiate coffee socials, ice cream socials, mixers, etc.
- Actively listen to resident, and family member needs, offering support and assistance with resolution when possible.
- Assist with on-site and off-site exercise group, interact with contracted home-health or rehab group to address resident’s needs.
- Assist with scheduling all physical activities - walking, horseshoe, shuffleboard, swimming, woodworking, etc.
- Arrange card games, board games, bingo, and billiards activities.
- Arrange opportunities for resident to partake in cooking, baking, and learning.
- Assisted living common areas and resident apartments primarily.
- Company automobiles to include multi-passenger car, van and/or bus; external community retail shops, restaurants, parks, etc. secondarily
- May be required to support/assist a resident’s full body weight.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 24 per week
