We are looking to add a Chief Propulsion Systems Engineer to our team. If you enjoy working in a startup environment and are passionate about the development of next-generation propulsion technologies, we would like to hear from you.
In this position you will be responsible for leading the technical vision, design, analysis, testing, and implementation of propulsion systems for aerospace applications. You will work closely with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers to develop cutting-edge propulsion solutions that enhance mission capabilities and performance. You will be responsible for setting technical direction, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving system-level optimization to maximize performance, efficiency, and reliability. You will also act as the primary point of contact to the customer and as the senior technical advisor to the program manager and product line leader.
\n- Lead the technical execution of the propulsion systems design team, providing technical support and direction throughout the entire lifecycle of development, from initial concept through design, testing, launch, and operation.
- Drive the architecture, analysis, and design of advanced propulsion solutions to meet mission and customer requirements.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of new technologies and methodologies to drive innovation and enhance propulsion system performance.
- Create a technical roadmap to identify key technology opportunities to drive innovation and development of new products and technologies.
- Set and promote high standards for quality and safety through peer reviews, process control, and performance feedback. Ensure compliance with all command media processes and standards in our technical solutions.
- Perform system modeling and computer analyses for product designs. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge with respect to technology and engineering best practices through education, conferences, and trade shows.
- Lead or support program technical reviews, proposal reviews, and other technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 18 years of experience in propulsion system design, analysis, and testing for space applications.
- Strong technical background in liquid propulsion design, development, manufacturing, integration, and testing including both hardware and software.
- Proven leadership in propulsion system design, analysis, testing, and integration.
- Expertise in propulsion system architecture, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion analysis.
- Significant achievements in liquid rocket engine design, including turbomachinery, combustion chambers, and propellant systems.
- Demonstrated success in managing and delivering complex propulsion and fluid system projects, from initial concept to completion.
- Ability to develop technical roadmaps and oversee system lifecycle from design to flight certification.
- Must be a self-starter and possess the skills necessary to lead and motivate others, achieving results in a timely manner.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience in capturing new business through cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing internal customer relationships, prioritization, and delegation.
