Primary Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections and document findings in support of design improvements per client requirements. Communicate with design engineer/architect and recommend possible solutions for consideration with solid working knowledge of subject matter.
- Interpret specifications, construction drawings and convey intent to the contractor in support of field operations.
- Work with design staff to address contractor requests for information and/or design changes.
- Observe construction activity, document daily progress through the Daily Field Report (DFR), and report all findings.
- Record and document this information in a legible and organized manner, as required by the plans, specifications, or client requirements.
- Ensures field data, reports, etc. get saved onto CESO’s server within the appropriate project folders.
- Support Engineers and Project Managers in daily planning, coordination, and completion of projects.
- Communicate and coordinate with the contractor and CESO Project Manager on project status, schedule, and concerns.
- Perform redline mark-up revisions (in electronic format/software) as directed by others.
- Perform routine technical work which does not require previous experience.
- Record daily construction material quantities for payment requests.
- Elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources including contractors, clients and other internal departments.
- Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Responsible for reporting on specific aspects of construction works in a legible and organized manner, as required by the plans, specifications, or client requirements.
- Understand the health and safety requirements.
- Attend daily safety meeting and fill out a job hazard analysis form to include in daily report.
- Learn local, state, and federal laws and regulations and adapt engineering information, codes and standards into the design of projects.
- Be a mentor to Inspectors imparting your experience to benefit the growth of other employees and improve services to the company and our clients.
- Drives company vehicles to and from work sites. Ability to coordinate and book travel arrangements within company and client travel guidelines.
- Cleans and performs simple maintenance (e.g., checks fluids, tire pressure) on company vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Associate degree in civil engineering (or related field), with three (3) or more years related experience and/or training.
- Or five (5) or more years related experience and/or training.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have the ability to reserve rental cars for business purposes
- OSHA 10 Hour Construction and/or Safe Land Certification preferred, or to be obtained upon hire.
- Fire extinguisher certification preferred, or to be obtained upon hire.
- Completion of Oil & Gas annual safety training provided by the Company.
- First Aid & CPR certification preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
- Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Employee must have the ability to reach with hands and arms; to use hands for drawing, typing, or handling tools and materials
- Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Employee may be exposed to varying work environments including extreme heat or cold, adverse weather conditions, uneven terrain, and moving construction vehicles while onsite
- Employee may be exposed to poisonous and/or thorny vegetation, snakes and stinging insects
- Ability to communicate effectively in a work environment that has a noise level that varies between moderate to loud
- Ability to travel as needed, which may include occasional overnight stays
- Must be available to work overtime as required
- Must be able to access various project locations, including sites with limited ADA accommodations
