Responsibilities and duties
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments, medical devices, and equipment following strict infection control protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Operate and maintain various sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and automated endoscope reprocessors
- Assemble and package instrument sets, prepare case carts for surgical procedures, and maintain proper documentation of all processes.
- Conduct quality assurance testing, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, VA directives, and facility policies.
- Manage inventory of sterile supplies, coordinate with OR and other departments, and maintain organized storage areas.
- Transport, track, and distribute sterilized equipment throughout the medical facility while maintaining sterile technique and safety standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of recent sterile processing experience
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and aseptic principles
- Physical ability to stand/walk full shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Background check required.
- Must meet health screening requirements.
