Job Summary:

The Proofreader will identify, mark and correct errors in written content such as grammar, formatting, writing style and composition.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Reviews final draft copies of content, prior to the publishing process.

· Identifies, marks and corrects errors in written content such as grammar, formatting, writing style and composition.

· Communicates with the content team when necessary during the revision process.

· Ensures consistent writing style and formatting in accordance with the organization's style guide.

· Ensures accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar.

· Works with other Quality Control staff members as necessary.

· Ensures revisions are incorporated successfully.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Proper time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

· Thorough understanding of grammar, spelling and word usage.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite

Recommended Skills & Abilities: 

· Knowledge of content management software.

· Ability to adapt when formatting or writing style changes arise. 

· Excellent mental flexibility in order to align with project priorities.

· Basic knowledge of AP Style Guide or a modified AP writing style. 

Education & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
