Job Description:
- We are seeking a skilled Air Export Agent to join our team at CEVA Logistics.
- The ideal candidate will have 6 months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities:
- The Air Export Agent will receive freight, documentation, and waybilling, assess charges, and collect fees for shipments.
- This role involves opening files on dedicated software systems for each shipment received.
- The successful candidate will respond to inquiries by fax, email, or telephone.
- They will negotiate with domestic customers and foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreements.
- Examination of invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations is also a key responsibility.
- The Air Export Agent will contact customs officials to affect the release of incoming freight and resolve customs delays.
- Itemizing charges, preparing freight bills, accepting payments, and issuing refunds are additional duties of this role.
- Notifying consignees of delays in departure of shipment is another important responsibility.
- Providing PODs to shippers if requested is also part of this role.
- The successful candidate will examine documents such as invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to verify conversion of merchandise weights or volumes into system used by other country.
- Converting foreign currency figures into United States monetary equivalents, or domestic currency into foreign equivalents, is a critical function of this role.
- Calculating duties or tariffs to be paid on merchandise is also a key responsibility.
- Corresponding with foreign companies is another important aspect of this role.
