What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Counsel, Labor and Employment position at CEVA Logistics?
YOUR ROLE
As Legal Counsel, Labor and Employment, you will provide counsel to management and Human Resource professionals on a broad range of legal issues including, but not limited to, employee and labor relations; discipline and terminations; and internal investigations. Additional responsibilities include facilitating legal training and managing outside counsel on employment litigation matters and administrative charges.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Litigation prevention: day-to-day counseling and preventative lawyering on labor and employment law matters, including ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, and NLRA compliance. Review disciplinary actions and terminations with HR.
- Litigation prevention: Programmatic legal and HR compliance training for Human Resources professionals and business operations teams. Recommend, implement and continuously improve labor and employment law related training.
- Litigation management: manage internal investigations as appropriate.
- Litigation management: manage outside counsel on employment litigation, administrative charges; assist in managing responses to subpoenas and document requests.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
- Law degree and bar admission in Texas.
- Minimum five (5) years of labor and employment law experience at a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.
Skills:
- Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
- Excellent knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws and regulations (including ADA, ADEA, FMLA, CFRA, FLSA, etc.).
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Experience handling union grievances and arbitrations.
- Experience managing and completing complex litigation matters.
- Sense of humor and commitment to professionalism.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
- Comfortable collaborating with senior executives.
- Concise, precise, clear and professional communication skills (both oral and written).
- Eager to learn more about logistics and supply chain topics.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to details
- Team player
Preferred:
- Six (6) to ten (10) years of labor and employment experience at a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.
- Previous experience in logistics or supply chain industry.
- Excellent reporting skills and good ability to synthetize complex problems.
- Animated by a strong curiosity toward business/ strategic topics.
