A New York based full service law firm is seeking a Human Resources Specialist for their New York office. Responsibilities include:
Onboarding:
• Organize, schedule and facilitate full life cycle of employees from onboarding to offboarding • Create personnel files and update all platforms with new hire date and audit files ensuring all
required employee documentation is collected and maintained • Run background checks for all new hires
Employee Benefits Administration:
• Enroll employees in benefits plans, respond to any inquiries regarding coverage, process benefit
changes and ensure compliance with benefit regulations
• Coordinate and conduct annual open enrollment for all benefit and retirement plans (health,
life, LTD, 40l(k), etc.)
• Process and track paid and unpaid leaves, including Medical Leave, Paid Parental Leave, FMLA
and PFL
• Process STD, LTD and Workers’ Compensation claims as needed
• Circulate wellness information
Employee Relations:
• Conduct 30-day and 60-day check-in for all new hires
• Administer introductory 90-day evaluations
• Assist in internal employee dispute resolution including investigate, mediate, document and
respond to employee relations issues
• Provide coaching and counseling to remediate conflicts • Conduct, review and track all exit interviews
• Point of contact for staff in various HR-related topics
• Monitor employee morale and firm culture
Compliance Management:
• Process and maintain I-9 files according to regulation
• Maintain confidentiality of all employees records and information
Recruitment and Hiring:
• Create, post and maintain professional staff employment openings
• Screen resumes
• Review applications and conduct initial professional staff screenings • Schedule and coordinate interviews for professional staff candidates • Track professional staff interview process
• Prepare and extend job offers
• Prepare professional staff recruiting placement agreements and track recruiting agreements
• Conduct reference checks
• Process placement invoices
Compensation Management:
• Analyze market data to recommend salary adjustments and ensure equitable compensation
practices
Performance Management:
• Conduct professional staff performance reviews, set employee goals, provide feedback and
address performance issues
• Create and maintain professional staff performance evaluations
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Human Resources
• Experience working with HRIS and time/attendance systems required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with benefits and employee plans for mid-size organizations
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational capabilities
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction at all organizational
levels
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and resolve issues efficiently • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service
