About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and support our nursing team in a correctional healthcare setting. As a DON, you will oversee patient care, ensure compliance with professional standards, and guide the nursing staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
This role provides a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a difference. Many of our patients have had limited access to healthcare, offering nurses a chance to treat a wide range of conditions—from routine care to complex and atypical cases.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the nursing team to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Oversee patient evaluations to meet NCCHC, ACA, PBNDS, and state standards.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, medication storage, and safety protocols.
- Provide staff training, development, and retention support.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers for continuity of care.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.
- Assist the Health Services Administrator (HSA) in setting goals and policies for the medical unit.
- Prepare reports and ensure timely documentation.
- Maintain security clearance and follow facility protocols.
