CFO Recruit is partnering with a dynamic real estate investment and development firm to appoint a Controller in New Jersey. This role would suit a Controller, Head of Finance or Finance Manager keen to work with and report to an experienced CFO. The Controller will be responsible for the day to day financial operations and HR and will collaborate closely with external accountants, legal professionals, and internal staff. The Controller will have the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain internal controls for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
- Support CFO in development of financial and operating processes, budgets, project monitoring, and reporting standards on a biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all projects adhering to national and local regulations.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate all audit activity.
- Present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership informed of the company’s financial status.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process, administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identifying, explaining and correcting variances as appropriate.
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the CFO to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
- Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
Required skills and qualifications:
- At least 10 years of professional accounting experience with 5 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field.
- Knowledge of real estate tax accounting including 1031 tax free exchanges.
- Knowledge of Delaware Statutory Trust and associated tax implications.
- Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis.
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
- Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes.
- Exemplary history of financial project management.
The salary advertized for this role is a guideline, the salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
