What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Manager, Program Development position at CFP BD OF STANDARD CTR FOR FINANCIAL PLANNING?
The Sr. Manager for Program Development is responsible for managing programs, products, and services in support of the strategic priorities of CFP Board. CFP Board is dedicated to growing a sustainable and diverse financial planner workforce. Programs focus on increasing the growth, influence, and leadership of CFP® professionals. Increasing the number of women and people of color are of particular focus.
Essential Functions
- In partnership with the Managing Director, Program Development, support the management of programs and products to accelerate the growth, influence, and leadership of women in financial planning, executed within approved budgets.
- Engage in internal planning and coordination across teams to leverage existing organizational resources and develop new resources.
- Support implementation of Volunteer Engagement and Pro Bono strategy (in conjunction with Director, Volunteer Engagement).
- Support annual budget development (projected revenue and expenses) in collaboration with Managing Director, Program Development.
- Engage with volunteers, including the Diversity Advisory Group and the Women’s Initiative to support organizational Workforce goals.
- In collaboration with the Managing Director, Program Development, and development staff, assist in the implementation of a fundraising strategy to grow programs. This includes internal strategic planning, proposal development, meetings with current and potential funders and updating policies and procedures, application requirements, grading rubrics and webpages for each program consistent with donor intent.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure programs drive progress to achieving CFP Board’s strategic priorities (e.g., Workforce and Access Goals). Track, report and communicate on relevant metrics and impact.
- Leverage latest workforce development research, data, and trends, and provides insights to internal and external stakeholders for positive business impact by contributing to or disseminating articles and webinars.
- Develop communications, presentations, and marketing collateral in support of the CFP Board’s initiatives.
- Manage and regularly update content on CFP Board’s website.
- Represent CFP Board and its programs internally and at external meetings, conferences and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Background/Skills/Abilities Required or Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, marketing, communications, or related field; graduate degree in business or related field preferred, but not required.
- Management of direct reports preferred, but not required.
- A minimum of 7 years of work experience with managing programs, initiatives or projects, and partnering with senior staff in the development and implementation of new strategies.
- Experience in talent acquisition and workforce development preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with the financial planning profession and financial services industry preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated success with assessing and connecting business strategies with workforce development programs and initiatives.
- Demonstrated success leading through influence, leveraging relationships and interpersonal skills to drive for results.
- Highly skilled in adaptability, critical thinking and collaboration.
- Strong public speaking skills, group facilitation skills and executive presence.
- Error-free writer with strong proofreading skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
- Ability to handle numerous projects at any given time and deliver outstanding finished product(s) in a timely manner.
- Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

CFP Board is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The applicable starting annual base salary is anticipated to be in the range of $107,000 to $127,000.00. In addition to base salary, total compensation includes incentive compensation for which employees are eligible based on completion of individual goals.
