CFP Board of Standards (501(c)(6)) sets and upholds standards for financial planning and administers the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification — widely recognized by the public, advisors and firms as the standard for financial planners — so that the public has access to the benefits of competent and ethical financial planning. 

CFP® certification is held by more than 97,000 people in the U.S. CFP Board Center for Financial Planning (501(c)(3)) addresses diversity and workforce development challenges and conducts and publishes research that adds to the financial planning profession’s body of knowledge.

Internship Description

CFP Board invites students who are eager to work on real-world projects in collaboration with key business leaders across the organization. You will be empowered to build community, explore your passion and build your business acumen. It is a chance to see the inner workings of a thriving non-profit organization that is committed to excellence. In this role, interns will be assigned to teams based on their educational background and interests and will use their skills and experience to contribute to projects designed to develop business strategy. 

The Summer Internship program will be 8 weeks from June 2 – July 25. Interns must be available Monday – Friday 8:30 – 5:00 and will be expected to maintain a hybrid work schedule. We will work with you to obtain college credit if our program aligns with your school’s requirements. Pay is $20/hour. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists CFP Board staff in conducting departmental functions and special projects. Develops and coordinates reports, correspondence, and other related materials under guidance. 
  • Participates in planning, organizing, and executing actions necessary to accomplish both short- and long-term departmental goals. Supports the resolution of issues, provides recommendations, and completes assigned projects.
  • Provides project management support by monitoring milestones, goals, and target dates while evaluating progress against established schedules. Identifies potential problem areas and recommends corrective actions to ensure project success.
  • Observes meetings, interactions with stakeholders to gain an understanding of organizational processes and relationships. Disseminates relevant information to appropriate staff and assists in organizing and scheduling events, meetings, and collaborations with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Provides assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives. Evaluates project results and makes recommendations to improve processes and procedures.
  • Attends training sessions and engages in activities designed to enhance professional competencies and technical skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, requiring exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • You are a rising college junior, senior, or 1L Law student
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Organized with excellent time management skills
  • Robust communication (written and verbal), collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Drive and eagerness to learn
  • Creative professional, empowered to bring bold ideas forward
  • Passion for problem solving
  • 3.0 GPA or higher

This position is based in the Washington D.C. office and works a hybrid schedule which could be changed at any time.
