Sub-Function Description: The Quality Assurance Supervisor plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance programs to ensure that production processes meet established standards. This role is responsible for upholding quality systems, leading inspection and testing efforts, and ensuring compliance through personal action or team supervision.

Organizational Impact: The QA Supervisor influences consistency, a driver of process excellence, and a bridge between operations and customer satisfaction. They protect the company from costly errors and push it toward continuous improvement.

Essential Functions | Accountabilities | Performance Measures

  • Supervise daily quality control and assurance activities across all shifts, ensuring adherence to NSF certification requirements and customer specifications.
  • Lead the facility’s NSF International program, including audits, documentation, corrective action planning, and auditor interactions.
  • Monitor and maintain quality systems, procedures, and documentation for materials, products, and components. (e.g., ISO 9001, NSF audits, PPAP, control plans, FMEA, and SPC).
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for non-conformances, customer complaints, and internal defects.
  • Perform audits (internal, supplier, and product) and support external regulatory and customer audits.
  • Train and coach quality inspectors and production team members on quality standards, best practices, and company policies.
  • Maintain calibration records, inspection tools, and lab equipment to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure consistent product quality and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze data and generate reports on quality performance metrics (e.g., scrap rates, first-pass yield, customer returns).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain inspection, testing, and evaluation standards and methods.
  • Keep leadership informed of significant quality issues, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience: The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to perform all essential job functions effectively, bringing strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address quality issues. They will possess proven leadership and team management capabilities, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across departments. A solid understanding of quality systems, statistical methods, and relevant compliance standards is essential. The incumbent is responsible for evaluating data and information with attention to moderate variability and must exercise sound judgment to recommend or implement appropriate process adjustments.

Leadership & Talent Management: Focused on self-development

Education | Certificates | Licenses | Registrations:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or
  • Five years of related experience/training, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HACCP and/or SQF certifications
  • NSF accreditation

Travel Required: 10%

Work Environment: Manufacturing

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The role may involve exposure to loud environments, moving mechanical parts, and temperature extremes. Proper use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed shoes is required.
