What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Trafficking Prevention Intern position at CFS?

Internship Summary:

Child and Family Services Youth Trafficking Prevention Program is excited to offer multiple internships to enthusiastic and empathetic individuals that want to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of youth at risk of or experiencing trafficking. This internship will help you gain valuable understanding about the impact of human trafficking and the service systems available to increase client safety. You will work with the team to facilitate a consistent continuum of care for the youth being served in the program based on individual needs assessment and with a victim-centered and survivor-led approach. This internship will prepare you with real social work experience and include direct client work and allow you to shadow other positions in the program.

Intern tasks may include:

  • Crisis intervention, safety planning, and resource connection using brief solution-focused approaches
  • Screening clients for Youth Trafficking Prevention services
  • Assisting with outreach to new referrals to offer services
  • Conducting new client intake meetings
  • Planning and facilitating monthly Youth Workshops
  • Becoming a part of the Youth Trafficking Prevention team
  • Attending supervision and Youth Trafficking Prevention team meetings
  • Students may also have time for self-driven research projects.

Other notes:

  • Interns would be able to access the placement site through public transportation and rideshares directly to the site.
  • Interns will receive weekly 1:1 supervision and have the opportunity for potential group supervision dependent on the number of interns accepted.
  • Flexible hours depending on client needs and additional program activities offered.
  • No weekend availability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a BSW or MSW program or related fields.
  • Students who are able to commit to two semesters preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all professional.

This is an unpaid internship
