This position is located in our Arlington, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities :

The Data Lakehouse Architect will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of a scalable data lakehouse architecture using Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, data lake architecture, experience with big data technologies, and a deep understanding of Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, and / or Starburst experience.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the design and implementation of a scalable data lakehouse architecture using Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data architecture solutions.
  • Implement best practices for data storage, data processing, and analytics on Azure
  • Set up and configure Azure Databricks clusters for large-scale data processing - enabling batch and real-time streaming.
  • Implement and manage Delta Lake for managing large datasets - ensure high availability, scalability, and performance optimization
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of ETL / ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other relevant tools, ensuring smooth data processing, query execution, and reporting.
  • Design and implement data governance, data security, and privacy controls for the data lakehouse platform.
  • Integrating the data lakehouse with various analytics tools, including BI platforms, data science tools, and machine learning platforms.
  • Optimize queries, data processing pipelines, and storage strategies for cost-efficiency and performance. fault tolerance
  • Identify bottlenecks and design solutions to improve the data processing capabilities.
  • Create detailed architectural documentation, diagrams, and technical specifications for the data lakehouse architecture.
  • Communicating the data lakehouse architecture and capabilities to key decision-makers

Required qualifications to be successful in this role :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or cloud solutions engineering, data warehousing, lakehouse architectures.
  • Technologies - Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, and / or Starburst experience, Python
  • Experience with data lakes - Delta Lake, other open-source technologies like Apache Spark.
  • Design cloud-based architectures, managing cloud data lakes
  • solid understanding of cost optimization strategies in cloud data platforms
  • Experience in ETL / ELT pipelines, data modeling, and data integration strategies for large-scale systems
  • CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $214,800.00.
