What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Continuous Improvement position at CH Guenther & Son LLC?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Link GPS Pillar activities to relevant loss streams and goal delivery.
- Develop and manage the TPM Master Plan linked to the delivery of business results.
- Align the integration of existing maintenance systems to guarantee the consistent methodological, strategic and systemic management of the Maintenance & Improvement process.
- Develop Management Routines (Standard Work).
- Educate leadership on GPS methodologies and ensure consistency globally.
- Define, develop and improve tools and audits for the TPM steps.
- Assess all global sites against pillar implementation requirements, analyzing gaps and ensuring company-wide alignment
- Lead and organize the master pillar team representing system owners and TPM pillar leads.
- Coach the PM pillar leaders company wide.
- Provide support and coaching to Campus/Regional GPS manager to deploy TPM at their sites.
- Collaborate with other departments.
- DIMENSIONS/ KPIs:
- Compliance to the Master Plan.
- Compliance to Capability Building Plan.
- Breakdown reduction.
- Mean time between failures improvement.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations/Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 10 years of progressive leadership in building and driving continuous improvement programs (TPM or LEAN), preferably with a background in engineering or manufacturing operations.
- 5 years of maintenance experience is preferred.
- Experience as an TPM Pillar leader is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient use of computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.
- In depth knowledge of TPM
- Maintenance and production experience at manufacturing site level
- Knowledge of Maintenance systems
- Good understanding of business needs
- Good knowledge of policies, systems and maintenance strategy and tools
- Proficient with problem solving techniques (DMAIC etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple direct reports including but not limited to: Continuous Improvement Manager(s)
- Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance of direct reports including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.
- Develop functional responsibilities of individuals that report to this position and ensure that best in-class output is created.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Primarily office-based, but regular presence in the plant is required to interact with plant operations, leadership, and staff. You may be required to visit different areas of the plant to observe operations and gather data where you will be exposed to unusual elements (dirt, dust, fumes, odors, noise).
- Must be able to lift up and carry 15 pounds at times.
- Substantial travel required (up to 40%) mostly in the North America.
