C.H. Thompson is currently seeking a Lead QC Inspector to join our Quality team. As a Lead QC Inspector, you will play a crucial role in maintaining quality, safety, and productivity through a hands-on approach. This individual will lead a team of 3-6 employees performing inspections, touch up, and unmasking, while simultaneously performing these steps and completing initial and final inspections of painted products. In addition to this specialized project, the Lead QC Inspector will provide support in other areas such as wet paint and powder-coat inspections during slower periods. This role requires a keen eye for detail, as even the smallest imperfections must be identified and addressed. The Lead QC Inspector will ensure all parts meet the highest quality standards, lead a team of inspectors, and drive continuous improvements within the quality department

Position Overview
- Perform thorough inspections on customer-specific wet paint parts, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Inspect and identify imperfections in parts, including surface finishes, paint coverage, and adhesion.
- Complete mask inspections, unmasking of parts, and inspecting parts for defects or issues.
- Perform touch-ups on parts as needed, ensuring the finish is perfect and consistent with customer expectations.
- Pack parts correctly, ensuring they are securely prepared for shipment and protected from damage.
- Lead, guide, and develop staff within the quality team, ensuring they are trained on all inspection processes and customer specifications.
- Offer support in answering team members' questions and providing training on quality standards and procedures.
- Act as the point of escalation for any issues or delays within the quality inspection process.
- Take charge and proactively address delays or roadblocks that are holding up orders or processes, ensuring prompt resolutions.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other departments to ensure seamless workflow.
- Ensure that inspection records are properly documented and that any non-conformance or issues are recorded and communicated to the necessary departments.
- Address and resolve any quality-related issues or challenges that arise during the inspection process.
- Work with the team and other departments to find effective solutions to maintain continuous workflow and order completion.
- Provide support in other areas of the building, including wet paint inspections and powder coat inspections, when the workload allows.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot even the smallest imperfections in parts and finishes.
- Previous experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing environment with wet paint and powder coating processes.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing or leading teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead by example, answer questions, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure while addressing issues in a timely manner.
- A proactive and strong-willed attitude to ensure processes are running smoothly and issues are resolved promptly.
- Ability to train and mentor team members to ensure consistency in quality standards.
- Familiarity with standard quality control practices, inspection methods, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks based on production needs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical activity required, including standing, inspecting, and handling parts.
- The role will require flexibility to work in different areas depending on production demands.
Shift:
- Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
Total Compensation Package:
- Wage
- $19.00 - $21.00 per hour.
- Compensation depends on the selected candidate's experience.
