JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Risk Management Specialist V is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk which could impact the organization’s operations, finances, regulatory and cybersecurity and developing strategies to minimize potential threats and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
- Education/Experience:
- BA/BS degree in risk management, finance, business administration or related fields plus twelve (12) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis and reporting
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Professional certifications (e.g., CRM, FRM, PRM, or CISSP) preferred
- Other Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of risk management principles and methodologies
- Strong understanding of relevant regulations and industry standards
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/SCOPE OF WORK

- Identify potential risks across various areas including financial, operational, regulatory, and cybersecurity.
- Analyze the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks on the organization.
- Evaluate existing risk management processes and programs and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to manage business interruptions.
- Design and implement risk management policies and procedures to reduce exposure.
- Monitor and track risk indicators and metrics and recommend necessary corrective actions.
- Communicate risk assessments and make recommendations to management and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present reports on risk management activities and findings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate as an integrated team member with other departments to identify risks.
- Maintain personal professional, regulatory, and technical knowledge of industry standards by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in information exchange networks, working groups, committees, and professional societies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Interpret and follow a wide variety of guidelines, policies, laws, and established practices to accomplish complex risk mitigation tasks and recommend changes in systems and procedures.
- Develop and implement special projects, write procedures and guidelines, and mentor others.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to department and company engineers, operators, and other personnel on regulatory matters relating to company procedures and risk issues or concerns.
- Use independent judgment to perform, identify, and analyze diverse risk responsibilities involving different and unrelated processes and methods.
- Isolate and define unknown conditions, resolve critical issues, or develop new theories according to industry principles, theories, and laws.
- Interface with individuals or groups from inside and outside the organization, senior management, as well as high-ranking officials from outside the organization.
- Provide direction to the functional team, coordinate work, troubleshoot problems, make recommendations, and implement corrective actions.
- Justify, defend, negotiate, or settle matters involving significant or controversial issues in accordance with practices or procedures.
