CH2M HILL BWXT West Valley, LLC (CHBWV) is the prime contractor selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Phase 1 - Facility Disposition Project at the West Valley Demonstration Project. The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York. In cooperation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, CHBWV continues to decontaminate and decommission facilities at this site.

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE OF POSITION
The internship program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, develop practical skills, enhance knowledge, and make meaningful contributions to projects. Intern assignments will be determined based on business need and role availability with consideration to skills and development goals.
The Environmental Compliance / Reporting Intern will gain knowledge and experience in overall environmental laws and regulations applicable to an environmental remediation project, to include regulations implementing the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and Safe Drinking Water Act. Knowledge will be gained via practical application by supporting the WVDP Environmental Compliance and Reporting team in meeting its contract deliverables.
SPECIFIC PROJECTS / RESPONSIBILITES
- Responsibilities include activities required to maintain compliance in spill reporting, monthly drinking water reporting, chemical inventory reports, environmental sustainability reporting, and regulatory analysis and review / inspection of site programs, procedures, and operations to verify compliance.
- The STEM intern will be given specific regulatory analysis and reporting tasks for review and comment by experienced site regulatory personnel, prior to submittal.
- Tasks related to maintaining WVDP's permit program may also be assigned
