Job Summary

 

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, Economics for Las Positas College.  Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in:  

 

ECON 1: Principles of Macroeconomics

ECON 2: Principles of Microeconomics

ECON 10: General Economics

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Deliver coherent lectures;

2. Create assignments that serve instructional goals;

3. Create exams and/or other evaluative assignments that test for mastery of course content;

4. Create course materials that serve instructional goals;

5. Organize course content so that it encompasses authorized course outlines;

6. Identify basic and essential concepts and developing pertinent materials and strategies that will assist;

7. Participate in program and subject area improvement tasks such as creating and assessment of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), Service Area Outcomes (SAOs), Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), program review, and curriculum development.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s in economics OR Bachelor’s in economics AND Master’s in business, business administration, business management, business education, finance or political science OR the equivalent.

 

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

 

Applicants applying under the “Equivalent” provision must provide details that explain at time of application how their academic preparation is the equivalent of the degree listed above.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Experience teaching online/distance education courses;

2. Familiarity with Canvas learning management system;

3. College-level teaching experience.
