Right now, we're looking for caring and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Food Services Specialists.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner based on your schedule.
- Measure, weigh, mix, and cook ingredients according to recipes and food preparation guidelines.
- Keep accurate records of all food used, assist with inventory, and help order items when needed.
- Make sure all food supplies are labeled, dated, and organized following Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) standards.
- Step in as a backup for other cooks when needed and assist with food prep for special events.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff and children, promoting a warm, friendly atmosphere.
- Keep the kitchen, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized, ensuring everything meets safety standards.
- Safely operate commercial-grade kitchen equipment like convection ovens, mixers, fryers, and dishwashers.
- Work with clients involved in the work-study program to help them develop skills in food service.
- Assist with weekly orders and fulfill special food requests for cottages.
- Be a team player, promoting cooperation and positivity in the kitchen.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a state food sanitation certificate.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, medical exam, and tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Experience in preparing meals on a large scale is a plus!
Core Hours
- Days: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
