Special Education Teacher

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver instruction aligned with Common Core Standards, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Maintain up-to-date lesson plans and unit plans for all courses.
- Foster a safe, supportive classroom environment that promotes academic success.
- Keep the classroom well-organized and conducive to learning.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students, ensuring all components are completed and stakeholders informed.
- Complete required reports (IEP updates, report cards, quarterly progress reports) on time.
- Collaborate regularly with parents/guardians to keep them informed of their child’s progress.
- Participate in school committees, clubs, and improvement processes.
- Guide classroom paraprofessionals to enhance student engagement and achievement.
- Administer assessments to inform and adjust instruction as needed.
- May be required to teach during summer school, based on staffing needs.
- Attend after-school events such as Parent/Teacher Conferences as required.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Special Education Teaching Certificate or Special Education Endorsement required.
- If not currently certified or endorsed, must obtain certification/endorsement within six months of hire.
- Two years of related experience in a school environment preferred.
