POSITION SUMMARY
Chadwick School is seeking a dedicated, vigilant, and proactive Safety Officer with experience in campus safety and a strong understanding of school security protocols. The ideal candidate is passionate about maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors, and is committed to the school's mission and values.
The Safety Officer will play a crucial role in safeguarding the school community by conducting regular patrols, monitoring access points, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance overall security measures. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
In addition to safety duties, the Safety Officer will contribute to the school's culture by participating in safety training, developing security procedures, and fostering a secure and welcoming atmosphere. The Safety Officer will work closely with the Director of Risk Management to ensure the implementation of best practices in school safety and emergency preparedness.

ASSOCIATED RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor campus. Conduct routine patrols of the school campus, including buildings, grounds, and parking areas, to ensure safety. Periodically monitor surveillance cameras to identify any safety risks
- Build strong relationships with students, faculty, staff and parents to foster a safe and supportive environment.
- Assist with emergency evacuations
- Document all physical safety breaches/incidents and actions taken
- Stay current on training and trends in the security and safety field
- Recommend campus safety improvements
- Be the face of safety for the school and assist people in need on campus, enforcing all school policies.
- Monitor and control entry points to the campus, ensuring only authorized individuals are allowed access.
- Assist in managing traffic flow and parking on campus to ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
- Enforce parking regulations.
- Respond to incidents that involve safety and security.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, and security threats.
- Assist in the coordination of emergency response efforts with local law enforcement and emergency services.
- Provide a visible and reassuring presence on campus to deter potential safety threats.
- Participate in regular safety drills and training sessions to stay prepared for emergency situations.
- Monitor daily student drop off/pick up.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, experience and skill requirements
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES, AND SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Ability to interact comfortably with students and adults
• Knowledge of safety procedures as applied to the requirements of schools
• Ability to perform school safety and related duties efficiently
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work cooperatively with others
• Ability to manage conflict
• Certificate of completion of a School Security Guard Training – complete within first 90 days of employment
• CPR and First aid certification
Compensation:
Anticipated hourly rate of pay $23-$28 depending on experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
• Required to lift and carry up to a maximum of 25 lbs., in a correct manner consistent with the appropriate training provided by the School.
• Occasionally required to use hand to handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.
• May use radio, telephone, computer, copier, and other office equipment in the course of a day.
• May be required to sit while operating word processing equipment for up to 1 hour or more daily, repetitive motion for typing and other keystroke needs.
