Chaffee County's Information Technology Department seeks an IT Support Technician. The IT Support Technician is the first point of contact for the IT Service Desk, providing Tier 1 technical support and assistance to Chaffee County employees across multiple departments. Core duties include tasks such as installing computer hardware and software, troubleshooting and resolving issues that are reported through the IT ticketing system, escalation of priority issues, and other related tasks. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record. Industry certifications (CompTIA, ISC2, etc.) are preferred but not required.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Support Technician is the first point of contact for the IT Service Desk, providing Tier 1 technical support and assistance to Chaffee County employees across multiple departments. Core duties include tasks such as installing computer hardware and software, troubleshooting, and resolving issues that are reported through the IT ticketing system, escalation of priority issues and other related tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Serves as the primary point of contact for users seeking technical support, utilizing the internal IT ticketing system.
- Interacts with users over phone, chat, and video conferencing tools on new and existing tickets.
- Supports the users and systems through remote access or site visits.
- Performs troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and asks pertinent questions.
- Installs, configures and maintains software and hardware components of computer and network systems.
- Technical documentation upkeep and maintenance.
- Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI) expectations as set forth by the IT Director.
- Occasional in-county and regional travel as necessary.
- Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid motor vehicle driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Industry Certifications (CompTIA, ISC2, etc.) preferred, but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and move frequently and within small spaces.
- Ability to conduct activities involving extensive sitting.
- Ability to grasp and manipulate office equipment, hand tools, and similar other tools and materials.
- Ability to conduct activities involving stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, twisting, and reaching on a moderate basis.
- Ability to participate in routine conversation in person or via telephone and distinguish telephone, printer, computer, and other auditory tones.
- Ability to distinguish small objects at near and far distances in bright or low light conditions. Ability to distinguish depth and see objects in a wide field of vision.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Most of this position’s duties are performed indoors or in a protected environment. The employee may be exposed to noise, mechanical and electrical, and other related hazards associated with an office environment.
