Position Description
Under the general supervision of the Director, Technical Services, perform a broad range of technical duties including, but not limited to, the following:
Fire/Security/Building Automation Support:
This position is responsible for supporting the technical aspects of the college's fire, security, and building automation systems. These duties include complex problem solving, coordination, and other activities related to the installation, troubleshooting, programming, and/or repair of the technical aspects of the district's fire, security, building automation, and video-surveillance systems.
Computer Hardware/Software Support:
Telecommunications, computer, and audio/visual hardware and software support, including the most complex problem solving, coordination, and implementation activities; install, reconfigure, relocate, repair, reinitiate, and maintain computer, audio/visual and peripheral equipment such as projectors, tape recorders, televisions, television monitors, document cameras, color video cameras, video tape recorders, video switches, video mixers, audio mixers, audio music systems, audio recorders, studio lighting instruments, DVD player/recorders, video conferencing systems, public address systems, scoreboards, telephones, routers, switches, DSU/CSU, modems, monitors, terminals, printers, plotters, scanners, servers, processors, and personal computer systems; load a variety of personal computer software on multiple operating systems, image workstations; maintain documentation on procedures and services performed.
Responsibilities
Install and maintain fire, security, video-surveillance, and building automation systems.
Install, reconfigure, relocate, repair, program, troubleshoot, and maintain fire alarm panels and related devices; security systems and related devices; video surveillance cameras, DVRs, and related devices; and building automation system components.
Install, update, and troubleshoot a variety of server and client software and firmware on multiple operating systems and devices.
Utilize diagnostic and test equipment to identify issues within these systems.
Install, replace, and update IP and CCTV video cameras and camera firmware.
Install, maintain, and repair DVR and other recording/archiving systems.
Troubleshoot communications errors between disparate systems.
Initiate appropriate corrective actions and/or coordinate repairs with vendor engineers or technicians where appropriate.
Review system logs and prepare reports as required. Install and maintain computer and peripheral equipment.
Install, reconfigure, relocate, repair, reinitiate, and maintain computer/audio-visual and peripheral equipments such as projectors, tape recorders, televisions, television monitors, document cameras, color video camera, video tape recorders, video switches, video mixers, audio mixers, audio music systems, audio recorders, studio lighting instruments, DVD player/recorders, video conferencing systems, public address systems, scoreboards, telephones, routers, switches, DSU/CSU, modems, monitors, terminals, printers, plotters, scanners, servers, processors, and personal computer systems.
Install and troubleshoot a variety of personal computer software on multiple operating systems and image workstations.
Utilize diagnostic and test equipment to locate and analyze computer, audio-visual, voice and data system malfunctions and to determine continuity and quality of transmission.
Initiate appropriate corrective actions and/or coordinate repairs with vendor engineers or technicians where appropriate.
Assist in the installation and maintenance of data communications and telephone systems via cable, coaxial cable, fiber optics, and other state-of-the-art communication equipment.
Assist in the evaluation of audio-visual, voice and data communications facilities and equipment for planning future projects and implementation of such projects.
Assist in the analyzing utilization of audio-visual, voice and data communications facilities and equipment and in making recommendations for maximum utilization of resources. Develop and maintain equipment operation manuals and systems documentation.
Maintain accurate and complete schematic diagrams.
Maintain equipment documentation and reference manuals.
Develop and maintain system documentation.
Review updates to operations manuals to evaluate their impact on district systems.
Assist in developing and maintaining written procedures.
Implement operation techniques and methods to maximize software and hardware performance. Monitor inventory of information systems supplies.
Maintain and monitor inventory of supported systems, consumable equipment, and supplies.
Setup a schedule of preventive maintenance, keep a log of maintenance performed, and maintain records of maintenance supplies used.
Maintain required levels of production supplies.
Evaluate and recommend procurement of components, including spare parts and special purpose equipment. Other
Participate in feasibility studies by developing specifications, evaluating and projecting the impact to the various systems supported, their peripheral equipment, and the utility of current equipment.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination equivalent to: An Associate's Degree or equivalent; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire, security, building automation, video surveillance, audio-visual, data and/or telecommunications equipment, broadcast systems, computer workstations, microcomputers, and computer peripheral equipment.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in preparing and maintaining accurate and complete records and reports.
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical manuals related to fire, security, building automation, video surveillance, telecommunications, audio-visual, computer workstations, microcomputers, and computer peripheral equipment maintenance and repair.
Demonstrated skill in the use of high voltage power supplies regarding safe handling procedures.
Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
