Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose any medical conditions.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including administering vaccinations, medications, and performing surgeries as necessary.
- Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
- Provide guidance on animal husbandry practices to pet owners for optimal care at home.
- Restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures, ensuring minimal stress for both the animal and staff.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients, documenting treatments, progress, and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff in delivering high-quality care.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care, nutrition, grooming, and behavioral issues.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Valid veterinary license in the state of practice.
- Experience or knowledge in animal physiology, animal care, and laboratory procedures is preferred.
- Familiarity with equine care is a plus but not mandatory.
- Skills in dog handling and pet grooming are advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
