Head of Performance Marketing
Location: Onsite, Austin
About Chai Vision
Chai Vision is a high-growth e-commerce company managing a portfolio of direct-to-consumer (DTC) CPG brands, including health & wellness, kids products, pets, home goods, and outdoor & travel. Our brands are scaling rapidly across Shopify, Amazon, and TikTok Shop, and we’re seeking a performance-driven leader to own and scale paid acquisition strategies primarily on Meta, Google, YouTube, and other paid media platforms.
If you thrive on ownership, love data, and know how to scale ecommerce brands profitably through paid acquisition, this is the role for you.
Who You Are
- You have a proven track record scaling paid media profitably for DTC e-commerce CPG brands.
- You own your numbers and hold yourself and your team accountable to performance.
- You are a strategic thinker, but also understand how to roll up your sleeves when needed.
- You understand unit economics and how to manage acquisition channels to achieve both top-line revenue and bottom-line profit.
- You’re fluent in CAC, LTV, ROAS, MER, contribution margin, and attribution modeling.
- You’ve successfully led agencies, media buyers, or internal teams to hit ambitious growth goals.
- You are not a media buyer yourself but are excellent at managing and evaluating media buying performance.
What You’ll Do
Performance Marketing Leadership
- Own and scale performance acquisition strategy across Meta, Google, YouTube, and emerging platforms by leading and managing internal media buyers and/or agency partners.
- Determine and own monthly marketing budgets, ad spend allocation, and target KPIs in collaboration with the
executive and finance teams to ensure alignment with both top-line revenue goals and bottom-line profitability metrics (e.g., target ROAS, MER, CAC). - Regularly assess efficiency and profitability of paid media campaigns, making data-driven decisions to scale or pull back spend based on performance.
- Explore and test new channels (e.g., Bing Ads, Applovin, CTV, digital radio and podcast) and manage partner
onboarding and performance for new media platforms.
Creative Alignment & Funnel Strategy
- Collaborate with the Creative Strategist and creative team to ensure creative testing strategies align with performance goals.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to inform ad angles, formats, and messaging—but do not directly execute creative strategy.
- Partner with the CRO team or landing page developers to drive continuous improvement of paid acquisition funnels and conversion rates.
Data, Budgeting & Efficiency Monitoring
- Own and maintain performance dashboards and forecasting models across brands using Northbeam, Triple Whale,
and Google Analytics. - Monitor campaign efficiency daily and weekly, identifying trends and taking swift action to adjust spend or strategy
when needed to stay within target KPIs. - Communicate budget pacing, ROI, and media efficiency clearly and regularly with leadership, proactively flagging
opportunities or risks.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work cross functionally with creative, retention (email/SMS), product, influencer, and merchandising teams to drive cohesive, customer-centric strategies.
- Lead weekly performance reviews and agency check-ins to ensure full accountability on all active campaigns.
- Collaborate with finance on forecasting and monthly planning to align spend with inventory, promotions, and profit
targets.
Additional Responsibilities
As part of our commitment to innovation and operational excellence, proficiency in AI tools, Excel, and a strong foundation in AI knowledge are essential for this role. We also expect an ongoing dedication to learning and staying current with emerging AI technologies and applications.
What You Need to Succeed
- 5 years in performance marketing or paid acquisition for DTC e-commerce brands.
- Proven success managing media spend at $500K–$1M /month and scaling channels profitably.
- Expert-level knowledge of Meta Ads, Google Ads, YouTube Ads, and performance KPIs.
- Strong ability to forecast, allocate, and optimize marketing and ad budgets across multiple brands and acquisition
channels. - Proficiency in attribution platforms like Northbeam and Triple Whale; able to translate complex data into clear,
actionable insights. - Experience managing and evaluating agency/media buyer performance across multiple brands.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross functionally and present performance data clearly to leadership.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a multi-brand portfolio or holding company structure.
- Exposure to international growth, omnichannel media strategy, or TikTok Shop performance.
- Familiarity with CTV, programmatic advertising, or affiliate acquisition models.
