Job Title: Store Manager

SUMMARY:
The Store Manager will oversee the activities of all store personnel. The Store Manager will enforce and exemplify a high level of customer service through greeting, evaluation of customers’ needs, presenting products that best fit the customers’ needs, overcoming objections and closing sales. The Store Manager will maintain a strong client base via company approved communications. The Store Manager is also responsible for continuously developing personnel skills and operational knowledge in their quest to be promote associates into management positions. The Store Manager shall consult with the Store Operations and have input into the training and development of associates as well as reprimands, reviews, hiring and termination of staff members.
JOB EXPECTATIONS:
At Chair King it should be understood that effort is appreciated but rewards come only from performance that meets and exceeds established standards and goals. Retail professionals regularly work on Saturdays and Sundays, the most important retail days. Store Managers work 45-50 hours every week and more when necessary. Store Managers are expected to meet all performance standards and production requirements as set by executive management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Customer Service:
The Store Manager is to provide outstanding customer service at all times and to assist Sales
Associates in this function. This includes prompt greetings, maintaining contact with customers throughout their visit
to our store, answering questions, overcoming objections and closing sales. Follow up with those that purchase and
those that do not is required through approved company methods.
2. Sales Tracking:
The Store Manager is responsible for tracking their own performance and assist Sales Associates in
this function. This tracking method is goal oriented and will be used in an objective review of their performance. The
Store Manager shall be acutely aware of their monthly and yearly goals as well as their respective productivity, as well as the productivity of the store in regard to these goals. The store manager is responsible for 25% - 33% in personal sales.
3. Training:
The Store Manager is responsible for attending all required training sessions as well as the execution of
sales and operational training. The implementation of the knowledge gained at all training sessions is also expected. This implementation will mirror the selling strategy and philosophy of Chair King.
4. Sales Meetings:
The Store Manager is responsible for participating in and occasionally running training sessions in
the store. They are also responsible for attending all scheduled corporate meetings. The Store manager is responsible to see that information from meetings is relayed to store personnel.
5. Merchandising:
The Store Manager in cooperation with the Store Operations and visual merchandisers is
responsible for insuring that all merchandise is displayed on the sale floor in the correct groupings as directed by the merchandise floor plan. The Store Manager is responsible for implementing the company’s strategic merchandising plan to effectively display each item so that it is appealing to the eye, priced and tagged correctly according the Chair King procedures, accessible to the customer, and accessorized appropriately to maximize the salability of the items.
6. Inventory Control:
The Store Manager is responsible for the accurate documentation of the distribution of
merchandise to and from the store. The Store Manager is responsible for supporting the company’s efforts regarding accuracy of the inventory in the store and for cooperative communication with corporate inventory control personnel to maintain balanced inventory levels. The Store Manager is responsible for handling merchandise including the loading and unloading of trucks, assisting customers in loading product, assembly of sample product when necessary, and showroom setup as directed by management.
7. Revenue Management:
The Store Manager is responsible for reconciling each day’s receipts, and at times, taking deposits to the bank. The Store Manager is responsible for accurately entering data on sales orders. The Store Manager is responsible for learning and implementing the correct procedures to verify funds on any form of payment. The Store Manager is also responsible for accurately charging and collecting all taxes, freight, delivery charges, assembly charges and any other required charges to the customer and insuring that all staff members do the same.
8. Communication:
The Store Manager is responsible for regular communication with the Director of Store Operations regarding the daily events within the store. The Store Manager is required to honestly and accurately represent product, inventory levels, and pricing to every customer on every sales presentation.
9. Facility Maintenance:
The Store Manager is required to assist in the maintenance of the facility with normal light housekeeping duties such as, but not limited to, dusting and vacuuming the showroom and its contents, removal of trash, and upkeep of restrooms. They are also to assist the Assistant Store Manager in assigning these tasks to other staff members and insure compliance.
10. Professionalism:
The Store Manager is expected to perform their duties with the utmost professional demeanor while at Chair King. These expectations include, but are not limited to, knowing and understanding as well as adhering to all Chair King policies and procedures as outlined in the company handbook and found on the company intranet
site.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) from an accredited institution of higher learning in business administration or management; and/or 2 years of furniture or other specialty retail sales experience; or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret performance reports generated by corporate. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, sales personnel, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Ability to perform and understand the basic functions of personal computers. Ability to understand and execute all necessary sales functions of the management information system.
