Description
As our Turf & Plant Health Care Manager, you will help shape and beautify some of the most distinguished properties on the Northshore. You will be responsible for building an effective, profitable, and efficiently staffed department. This customer-facing team provides top-notched customer service to our Maintenance and Soil & Turf customers - many of which have been clients of ours for generations!
Responsibilities include several key aspects :
Leader :
Managing the Turf Applicators and Plant Health Care Technicians.
Set staff member goals, conduct annual performance reviews, and mentor team members.
Train and instruct team members on proper technique and procedures.
Delegate work and be responsible for your team's safety, performance, equipment, and time tickets.
Walk-the-talk by living out Chalet's core values and policies, and coach your team to do the same.
Responsible for warehouse organization, monitoring product going out, and ordering to restock.
Develop strong relationships with Associate Director of Maintenance Ops and Client Relationship Managers.
Technical Expert :
Supervise applications which include best practices for mixing chemicals and making accurate fertilization and pesticide applications to ensure both economical and environmentally responsible practices.
Coordinate and schedule application routes ensuring optimal timing based on soil temps, degree days, and seasonal conditions.
Keep abreast of new techniques and development within the industry.
Research and evaluate any current product we use or new products that are available.
Sales & Relationship Manager :
Generate sales from leads, referrals, and existing clients in partnership with our Client Relationship Managers.
Resolve customer issues, complaints, or problems, all while building good faith relationships.
Educate customers on our programs and IPM philosophies and set proper expectations.
Focus on client retention by providing exceptional service, renewing accounts, and building client relationships.
Requirements
Qualifications :
Customer focused and pro-active team leader with excellent planning, organization, and communications skills.
3 years landscape / horticulture related experience.
Previous management experience where you have expertly supervised people and managed projects.
Thorough understanding of turf and plant health best practices.
Current Illinois Pesticide license with Turf, Ornamental, and Mosquito categories.
Trustworthy, with an ethical approach to sales and customer service.
Computer literate with the ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Aspire or other automated time tickets and billing systems is a plus.
Have and maintain a current driver's license, be mechanically inclined, and have the ability to lift 40 lbs.
Benefits :
This is a full-time year-round salaried position based out of our North Chicago facility (near Gurnee) and will work a 6-day week in the busy season, a 4-day week in the off season and a 5-day week the balance of the year.
