What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Lawn Care Technician position at Chalet?

Responsibilities:
- Providing top-notch customer service to our customers by meeting their needs and exceeding their expectations.
- Performing applications to our customers’ turf lawn. May assist in applications to shrubs, and/or ornamental trees as needed.
- Applications will consist of both granular and liquid herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, fertilizers, etc.
- Monitor accounts and make applications for all problems related to insects, diseases, or weed infestation.
- Evaluate progress and make future recommendations for control. Keep journals/logs to ensure timely and efficient follow up.
- Mixing chemicals and maintaining accuracy and safety.
- Operate and maintain all equipment including company vehicle, sprayers, and spreaders.
- Actively contribute to achieving performance goals in job quality, efficiency, safety, and customer service.
- We cross-train between Lawn and PHC so technicians can support in either area when needed but they are usually hired to focus on one or the other.
- Support other departments when needed.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a customer-focused, pro-active team player. We will provide training, but are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualifications:
- Outstanding customer service and time management skills.
- Experience working in the landscape, lawn, or PHC field a plus but not required.
- Illinois Pesticide General Standards license (you can study and sit for the exams after joining our team, license is required within 3 months of hire).
- Mechanically inclined.
- Be able to lift 75 to 100 lbs. and walk for long distance on sloped or uneven grounds.
- PC and iPhone familiarity.
- Have and maintain a current driver’s license with a clean record
Pay & Benefits:
- We have seasonal opportunities based out of our North Chicago, IL (near Waukegan) facility with the schedule being from approximately March 1st - December 15th.
- Working hours are 7am to 5pm Monday - Friday with some Saturdays in the Spring.
- Pay will be based on your experience, skills and abilities.
- If hired, you’ll be eligible for a $1000 signing bonus ($250 paid after 90 days, $750 paid at season end).
