Job Description: Transporting merchandise, offloading trucks by use of forklift and/or pallet jacks, sorting and segregating merchandise and placing in designated receiving area. Prepare merchandise for government receivers to count cases and prepare cases for distribution to Contract Stockers.
Responsibilities and duties of this position include but not limited to the following:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Offload trucks by using a pallet jack and/or forklift.
Prepare merchandise for government receipt.
Transport merchandise moving pallets or cartloads of perishable merchandise into appropriate refrigerated storage area within 15 minutes of receipt.
Sort and Segregate Merchandise.
Neatly stack new items, vendor stocked cases and display cases on pallets and/or carts as indicated by the Day Manager
Sort contractor cases by aisle/commodity.
Store merchandise by placing full cases in location that have been specifically assigned by line item.
Pull merchandise pull cases available and moving to a holding area for stocking to sales area for replenishment.
Place excess serviceable pallets in stacks unserviceable (missing or broken slats or exposed nails) pallets turned over to the government for disposition.
Rotate dated merchandise so that the oldest date is in front of newer dated products.
Participate in hazardous food recalls.
Participate in annual inventory.
Participate in emergency stocking activities.
Observe all safety rules and regulations and don personal protective equipment as required.
Maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
Perform Day Stocking Duties as assigned.
Perform Day Custodial duties as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to prepare, arrange, or stack items together for safety and neatness, rotate old stock. Ability to recognize and report items of poor or unacceptable quality. Ability to operate a manual pallet jack in a safe manner. Ability to match names, numbers and size of items on shelves, cartons, and storage areas. Ability to locate items in designated storage areas, move to stocking location. Ability to understand general layout of the store and location of displays. Ability to function in a military setting. Must pass a background check. Must qualify to operate a Forklift.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
No specific educational requirements except an ability to read numbers and distinguish between sizes, shapes and to match like items. Able to use a pallet jack and forklift. Prior warehousing and forklift experience is preferred.
