We are currently looking for a Supplier Quality Intern to join our team!
What You'll Do
- Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) Management & Analysis Work with plant and supplier teams to issue, track, and close SCARs in response to non-conforming material and components.
- Analyze incoming quality data and use quality tools (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 8D) to identify trends and recurring supplier issues.
- Evaluate containment and corrective actions to verify long-term effectiveness. Support the implementation of supplier development strategies based on SCAR analysis.
- Root Cause Investigation for Weld and Stamped Part Defects Participate in problem-solving sessions related to weld quality failures (e.g., porosity, weak welds, weld spatter) and stamped part defects (e.g., cracks, springback, tool wear).
- Assist in gathering failure data from shop floor operations and coordinate laboratory testing, such as weld cross-section analysis or tensile testing.
- Help facilitate communication between quality, engineering, and supplier teams during root cause investigations.
- Supplier Process Audits and Quality Readiness Assessments Support corporate SQEs in conducting process audits at supplier locations using AIAG CQI and IATF 16949 guidelines.
- Assist with documenting audit findings, preparing reports, and tracking improvement plans.
- Evaluate supplier PFMEAs and Control Plans for alignment with product quality requirements.
This will be a M-F position located at our plant in Pontiac, MI.
What You Need To Have
- Must be pursuing a four-year Bachelor’s degree related to Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a accredited college or university
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be considered for the Internship program
- Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in global manufacturing environment
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
