Job Summary : CP Furniture is seeking a CNC Operator / Instructor for our non-profit construction and furniture training program. (CP Furniture is part of The Challenge Program (TCP), a construction training nonprofit that serves young adults facing barriers to employment.) The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation and documentation of our Technology Training Program. The CNC Operator / Instuctor will teach technology program participants introductory CNC operations, how to read drawings, and basic inventory management. Classes are held in 10-week cohorts, 2-3 times per year. When not teaching, candidate will assist with shop drawings, renderings and basic furniture fabrication including CNC operations. Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
To do this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned to meet business or instructional needs.
- Develop & teach a 10-week curriculum (both classroom and shop) (2-3 cohorts per year)
- Teach program participants how to use a CNC router (including starting procedures for CNC router machine, choosing end mill flutes and shapes, changing blade or end mill, setting up the x and y axis, setting up Z axis, setting up workpiece on table, loading the file, monitoring the operation, cleaning work area)
- Teach program participants how to read drawings (CAD / CAM, 3-D modeling)
- Teach and enforce safety precautions
- Conduct regular review of participant case plans through on-going communication with staff members and participants to evaluate performance, track progress, and implement improvement plans
- Document all contact with and services provided to active and exited participants (12 months post exit)
- Continue to reinforce life skills taught while enrolled at TCP
- Maintain reporting standards of program, keep well-documented records, and ensure that all necessary paperwork is organized in files (electronic and physical paper) in compliance with DOL requirements
- Assist with furniture fabrication including CNC operations when classes are not in session
- Create drawings / renderings of standard and custom furniture for clients and shop
