SUMMARY
Operates and maintains CNC lathes and mills to fabricate a variety of components used in our products. 2nd shift available after an appropriate amount of training on 1st shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Readies equipment for operation by powering up and, as applicable to specific equipment to be operated, initializing control and tool/slide positions, and selecting/activating CNC operating program identified in work instructions.
Positions and secures workpiece in machine/fixture and cycles machine.
Observes and listens to machine during operation to detect common problems, such as worn or damaged cutting tools or machine malfunctions.
Performs any auxiliary/manual operations specified in work instructions, such as filing or grinding to remove burrs or sharp edges, cleaning, or attachment of peripheral parts.
Inspects workpiece for conformance to dimensional specifications using common measuring devices such as scales, calipers, or “Go/No-Go” gages, and utilizing simple engineering drawings, and inspects for conformance to other
established specifications such as appearance criteria.
Performs routine equipment/tooling adjustments, such as CNC tool offset changes or replacement of cutting tools or inserts, as required to ensure continued conformance to specifications.
Records production and quality assurance data, such as part numbers, quantities, lot numbers, and inspection measurements/results, on designated forms, tags, charts, or records.
Immediately notifies supervisor of any discrepancies regarding product, equipment, work instructions, or records.
Performs all job activities in accordance with training, work instructions, and established company procedures.
Maintains work area (equipment, tools, etc.) in a neat and orderly manner.

The employee frequently is required to talk and hear, and may occasionally be required to sit or stoop. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and in certain work assignments may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
