Summary
Chamberlain Advisors is currently seeking an Associate Principal, Database Governance & Architecture, to drive governance strategies across relational and non-relational database environments. In this role, you will oversee database integrity, security, performance optimization, and metadata management, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal data governance policies. This position acts as a bridge between business, data governance, and technical teams, ensuring the seamless integration of database design principles with metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks. You will work closely with DBAs, data engineers, architects, and compliance teams to establish robust database governance frameworks for both on-premise and cloud-based environments.

- Define data modeling standards, schema design principles, and best practices for structured (SQL) and unstructured (NoSQL) databases.
- Establish database cataloging strategies to align with metadata management and enterprise governance standards.
- Optimize database storage, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning for transactional and analytical environments.
- Oversee database security policies, including encryption, role-based access controls (RBAC), and regulatory compliance (SOX, SEC, GDPR).
- Work with Data Domain Owners and SMEs to map Critical Data Elements (CDEs) within enterprise databases.
- Design, develop, and implement end-to-end technical data lineage for structured and semi-structured datasets.
- Manage metadata ingestion and version control for schema changes across database platforms.
- Collaborate with data engineers to automate metadata and lineage tracking for data movement between ETL pipelines, APIs, and streaming platforms.
- Develop and implement database-specific data quality rules for validation, anomaly detection, and reconciliation.
- Utilize data profiling tools to assess database integrity and identify inconsistencies in structured/unstructured data.
- Implement data quality dashboards for real-time monitoring of key database health metrics.
- Work with risk and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for data governance.
- Design governance frameworks for hybrid database environments (on-prem and cloud-based).
- Work with cloud data platforms (AWS RDS, Redshift, Azure SQL, Snowflake) to ensure seamless database migration and governance.
- Implement governance policies for data virtualization, real-time data streaming, and NoSQL databases (Kafka, Redis, MongoDB).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in database architecture, governance, metadata management. Data Quality Analysis, Data Quality Remediation, Data Profiling, Data Lineage
- Strong experience with metadata management tools (Collibra, Informatica, IBM Infosphere ISEE).
- Expertise in relational (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Amazon Redshift) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra).
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools, BI platforms (Tableau, Cognos), and data warehousing.
- Proficiency in SQL, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Experience designing and implementing database security frameworks (encryption, RBAC, access policies).
- Experience designing and building data governance capabilities (data quality, metadata, lineage, catalog, and dictionary).
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience in Capital Markets, Banking, or Financial Services and prior development/coding experience is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Kafka, APIs, Protobuf, JSON, and cloud-native database services.
- Strong knowledge of cloud data governance strategies in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience creating architecture and data flow diagrams using Draw.io, Visio, or similar tools.
- Background in data governance compliance (SOX, GDPR, market regulations).
