This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a talented team of structural engineers, designing buildings and internal process structures for water and wastewater treatment facilities. It's an exciting chance for an ambitious engineer to advance their career by making key design decisions on a variety of projects, including concrete and steel structures, water retention tanks, and supporting infrastructure like pipe supports and catwalks.
The successful candidate will collaborate with senior engineers and take on significant design responsibilities, working on reinforced concrete structures, masonry and precast concrete buildings, and the analysis of existing facilities. The role also includes designing ancillary components to support overall project goals. This position provides a dynamic, collaborative environment where engineers can grow their skills and contribute to impactful water utility projects.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
$101,200.00 - $161,600.00
The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Use professional judgment to independently complete engineering tasks within established federal, state, and local criteria.
- Manage major design tasks with limited supervision, primarily focusing on Water/Wastewater and Utility-based projects, utilizing concrete, masonry, and steel designs.
- Ensure the accuracy of completed tasks by following established QA/QC processes for each project.
- Assist in the bidding or contractor selection process when authorized by the Project Manager.
- Perform field observation, inspection, and data collection duties as necessary.
- Address contractor questions, issues, and prepare project addenda as needed.
- Recommend and prepare change orders when authorized by the Project Manager.
- Participate in the preparation of engineering services proposals, including estimating time schedules and costs for proposed work.
- Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
- Communicate independently on technical matters with clients.
- Under the direction of the Project Manager or Lead Engineer, assign and manage tasks and schedules for Staff Engineers (I/II) and non-exempt project team members.
- Engage in technical and professional associations related to structural engineering and design.
- Water experience is preferred, but not required.
- Must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year or graduate engineering university in a relevant discipline (civil w/ structural specialty, structural, architectural, etc.)
- Professionally registered (P.E.) in one or more states in which HR Green, Inc. conducts business (or ability to obtain such registration within six months of employment). Registration in the state of Texas, or the ability to receive reciprocity, is highly desired.
- S.E. certification preferred, but not required.
- Possess 7 or more years of design/engineering experience and a demonstrated ability to act as an authorized agent of the company to sign engineering documents.
- Proficient knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Working knowledge in office automation, CADD, and engineering automation tools. AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit preferred.
- Advance knowledge of structural design software and automation software for component design (Excel, Mathcad). RISA and STAAD experience preferred.
- Must possess strong technical verbal and writing skills and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.
- The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
