Chamberlain Advisors is searching for a Plant Manager for a building products manufacturer in Rochelle, VA. The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience overseeing P&L. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic plant manager eager to drive operational improvements and lead change for a growing company while fostering a positive and high-performing workforce.

Manufacturing Operations and Continuous Improvement. We are seeking a seasoned manufacturing leader who has risen through the ranks of manufacturing operations. This high-touch role requires a deep understanding of plant processes, machinery maintenance, and optimizing efficiency on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will bring direct experience in industrial environments, such as aluminum or steel fabrication, where raw materials are transformed into finished products. The successful candidate will be well-versed in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Kaizen, with a demonstrated ability to transform an operation into a high-performing, well-organized manufacturing environment. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of leading efforts to consolidate processes, streamline production workflows, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

P&L Oversight and General Management. The Plant Manager will assume full responsibility for the plant’s P&L, driving profitability through effective management of financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how operational decisions impact the bottom line and will work closely with the accounting team to analyze sales, margins, gross profit, and historical trends. This role requires the ability to interpret financial statements, manage expenses, and ensure the plant operates efficiently and profitably. Additionally, the Plant Manager will oversee key functions, including procurement, receiving, shipping, invoicing, inventory management, customer service, and all day-to-day operations. The position also involves overseeing critical HR responsibilities such as hiring, training, performance evaluations, and fostering a positive work culture, as well as managing administrative functions to ensure compliance with licenses, permits, and other regulatory compliance requirements.

Whether managing tight budgets or scaling the workforce to meet production demands, this individual will be skilled at optimizing resources while simultaneously enhancing quality and customer service. The successful candidate will leverage process improvements, strategic hiring, and efficient resource management to ensure the plant operates efficiently, driving sustainable growth without sacrificing quality or employee engagement.

Responsibilities.

  • Leading and managing all plant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day production processes while maintaining a focus on productivity, quality, and profitability.
  • Championing Lean, Kaizen, or other methodologies to optimize operational performance, streamline workflows, and drive cost savings while enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Developing and executing strategies to increase plant productivity, optimizing resources and aligning operations with organizational goals without compromising quality or safety.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the plant's financial management, including P&L, evaluating financial data, and tracking key performance metrics.
  • Establishing and monitoring safety and operational standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, best practices, and company policies.
  • Fostering a proactive safety culture, implementing and maintaining strong safety protocols to ensure the health and well-being of the workforce.
  • Managing and supervising plant staff, ensuring clear communication, performance management, and opportunities for team development. Building a high-performing, engaged team through training, mentorship, and goal setting.
  • Fostering a culture of respect, transparency, and high morale across the workforce, ensuring that employees feel valued, empowered, and aligned with plant and company objectives.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for all legal, administrative, and regulatory compliance matters, including managing licenses, permits, insurance, and tax-related issues to ensure the plant remains fully operational and in good standing.

Qualifications.

  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment in operational management or general management.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing, specifically in environments involving steel, aluminum, or other environments where raw materials are converted into finished goods.
  • Experience in P&L oversight and financial management within a manufacturing setting.
  • Expertise in continuous improvement techniques such as Lean or Kaizen, with a demonstrated ability to improve operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive change, motivate employees, and foster a culture of collaboration and respect.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and plant operations management.
