CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM ASSISTANT MANAGER
1. High school diploma or GED

QUALIFICATIONS:
2. Two (2) years experience as CNP worker or in a related food service program.
3. Valid health certificate and recent positive results of a tuberculin test.
4. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
5. Completion of Serv-Safe certification and CPR certification. FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt REPORTS TO: Principal and CNP Manager SUPERVISES: CNP Personnel as directed
1. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
2. Ability to do simple mathematics.
3. Ability to learn prescribed preparation methods of handling food supplies.
4. Ability to organize, file and retrieve information as needed.
5. Ability to complete production records.
6. Ability to work with both hands when assigned food preparation.
7. Read and interpret recipes and instructions.
8. Ability to use equipment timers and controls.
9. Ability to use ingredient scaling equipment.
10. Capable of working for six hours in a cold or hot and humid kitchen environment.
11. Capable of standing for long periods of time on quarry floors during food preparation using work surfaces that are 48” above the floor.
12. Capable of lifting moderately heavy cases of food from the floor level to storage shelves, located from one to five feet from the floor.
13. Capable of using floor cleaning equipment to sweep, mop and/or scrub as needed.
14. Ability to be a safe food handler, free of disease which may be transmitted by food.
15. Ability to follow and pass required sanitation standards and training.
16. Ability to empty 50 gallon trash receptacle into an eight yard dumpster.
17. Ability to use trash receptacle washer.
18. Ability to read chemical product sheets and follow required safety procedures while using and cleaning food preparation equipment.
19. Ability to transfer extremely hot food pans from food preparation equipment to serving area.
20. Ability to use food preparation equipment that dice, slice, cut, chip, fry, bake, steam, braise, broil, boil and puree using required manufacturer’s safety recommendations.
21. Ability to use six-foot step ladder for weekly cleaning of kitchen ventilation system.
22. Ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble food preparation and cleaning equipment.

23. Knowledge of safety procedures, sanitation standards, food preparation methods and equipment used in school cafeterias.
24. Ability to cooperate work effectively with co-workers, school faculty and staff and students.
25. Ability to plan and supervise workers for school food service.
26. Ability to use technology to perform job responsibilities as required.
27. Physical dexterity, mobility, and strength to stoop, bend, lift, reach, and climb as needed to perform the essential functions of this position.
JOB GOAL: To assist in planning, preparing and serving nutritious, attractive, appropriate meals for students and staff according to the goals and purposes of the National Child Nutrition Program. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists in planning, directing and implementation of all food services for the child nutrition program of the school assigned. :
2. Accepts responsibility for the security of foods, supplies, and resources as directed by the CNP manager.
3. Assists CNP Manager with equipment management, personnel management, inventories, reports and food preparation duties as assigned.
4. Assists with handling and storing of foods, commodities, materials, supplies, and utensils.
5. Assists with new employee orientation and training as directed.
6. Maintains standards for safety and sanitation to comply with local and state health regulations.
7. Practices good personal hygiene and maintains all work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
8. Attends required meetings, trainings, continuing education programs, seminars, conferences, workshops and work-related events.
9. Demonstrates honesty, dependability, confidentiality, and appropriate speech and behavior.
10. Prepares and submits required inventories, reports, financial data, employee evaluations, and employee time records. Maintains records and submits reports according to policies and time lines of the school system as directed by the CNP Manager.
11. Assists in conducting nutrition and wellness education programs for students and staff.
12. Collaborates with school staff to accommodate for students with special needs.
13. Promotes good public relations with students, faculty, parents, and the public.
14. Assists in the selection of personnel as directed by the CNP Manager.
15. Assist s with arrangements for the preparation and service of planned meals for special school-related activities as directed.
16. Reports problems, accidents, absences, injuries and concerns to appropriate school system authorities.
17. Assists with the locking of storerooms and securing the building before leaving as directed.

18. Assists with financial oversight and fiscal responsibilities of the program as directed.
19. Participates cooperatively in projects to improve CNP services, solve problems, and increase efficiency.
20. Follows attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
21. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other job-related responsibilities as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board's salary schedule. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s performance assessment procedures for support personnel.
